How are you today?
I gave myself a little treat at lunch. Jude has been crankier than usual for a few days now, probably because he’s teething, and last night at about 4am his crying really got to me. Half-conscious, I reminded myself not to lose it. He’s a baby, crying is his way of communicating. He needs me, so he cries. I took control of my emotions, at the same time making a mental note to give myself a break today. I am grateful to have my helper care for Jude as I escape for a bit of “pak-tor” (date) time with the DH now and then.
The Dirty Houjicha Latte and Burnt Cheesecake at @thekinscafe provided a much needed perk-me-up, and ended my lunch on a satisfying not-too-sweet note.
Many of you have asked when I will be back at work, thank you for keeping me in your thoughts. ❤️ I’ll be back on-air at @yes933 in May. Before that, I’ll be doing my first IG Live with @yenlim__ this coming Saturday at 8pm on @madam.partum. I’ll be sharing my journey as a mother, how it all started with me plunging into motherhood without sufficient preparation and support, eventually finding myself at a complete loss and caught up in the baby blues. Hope to “see” you. 💕
P.S. Can u see that strand of white hair on my head? These days, I’m just happy I have hair, black or white doesn’t matter. 😂

26 July 2008. A Fairytale Love.
It was the day we walked down the red carpet and conquered obstacle after obstacle. The day we sang our self-composed song titled 我们的童话 during our march-in. The day you had to choose which shoe belonged to me, which strand of hair was mine and which apple I had bitten into - inspired by Cinderella, Rapunzel and Snow White, before you earned the sword and key to my castle. The day you were Prince Charming and I was the plainest yet happiest Princess.
12 years have passed and I think it's safe to say we still have countless obstacles in front of us, haha. Yup, the hurdles never end, especially it comes to marriage and parenthood, and I think we have overcome enough to realise it by now. The thing is, at least I know we are in this journey hand in hand and though we will probably not survive alone, together, we might just make it to happily ever after.
Yup, this emo mama is feeling extra sentimental today because the hubby is away and can't help but look through our wedding album to reminisce that day. Over a decade might have passed but these are the memorable moments that will live in my heart forever.
I've said this many times over the years but it's never enough. Big thanks to everyone who made our day so special, including our parents and family members for all their love and help, the jiemeis, brothers and swordbearers for being the best bunch of friends, the friends who made an effort to dress up for our wedding dinner and gamely took part in the Best Dressed contest, everyone who took time off to join us for our celebration and to @imagegardencapture for giving us these wonderful memories.

In this episode, we headed down to North Bridge Road Lor Mee to gulp down a GIGANTIC 6KG bowl of Lor Mee. North Bridge Road Lor Mee is headed by Lance, a young hawker, who learned the recipe from a close family friend who similarly ran a famous Lor Mee outlet in his youth. Now, Lance serves a thoroughly refined bowl of Lor Mee with a wide variety of toppings and condiments at $4/5 a bowl.
Lor Mee is Chinese dish brought over to Singapore by immigrants from China. It involves noodles drenched in a thick and starchy gravy topped with sides like hard-boiled eggs and Chinese-style sausage rolls (ngoh hiang), and condiments like vinegar and freshly minced garlic. The heavily spiced gravy is usually thickened with corn starch and eggs.
For this challenge, we piled 8 servings of yellow noodles onto the bowl and filled the bowl with gravy until it was close to full. We then topped it up with massive amounts of fried fish, braised pork belly, Chinese-style sausage rolls and hard-boiled eggs. To round it all off, we added heaping piles of minced garlic, coriander and chilli paste, before squirting a helping of vinegar.
The gravy was exceptional, very well-balanced with noticeable sour-spicy-sweet notes that were not overwhelming in any direction. It was thick as expected, coating each strand of noodles and toppings with savoury goodness. For the toppings, the fried fish really went beyond what we were expecting for a $5 dollar dish. Each piece was fried to crunchy perfection and bursting with moisture and flavour. The contrast between the bite from the fried fish and the sloppy gravy was one to remember. The braised pork belly was also well done, tender and well-marinated with Chinese spices. The best way to eat this dish would be to mix all the added condiments together with the gravy and toppings, allowing the varied and complex flavours to be present with every bite. The addition of chilli, garlic and vinegar elevated an already flavourful dish considerably.
I was not expecting to enjoy this challenge as I have never been a fan of Lor Mee, but I downed this bowl with relative ease and almost wanted seconds. If you are looking for an excellent bowl of Lor Mee or want to try one for the first time, you will not go wrong with North Bridge Road Lor Mee.

Hello everyone... This hair tutorial applies on dry hair and not on a wet hair like any other tutorial you have seen. It may be the best possible way to heatless perm without damaging your hair strand. As you already know, tying/braiding wet hair and put it to sleep can cause your hair to get a white cast or they call it White Piedra. Or we called it ' rambut berbuah' in Malay..hehe.
So to avoid that to happen, I tried using rosewater to damp my hair and leave it overnight and its work!! Rosewater is known to calm down frizz and add shine to your hair. It will naturally get rid of dry and unmanageable hair as well.
So here I already link the products that I use. You can use any other rosewater brand that you have (face mist also works well) as long as the ingredients are good.
Here I'm using Rosewater Facemist by @freshopbeauty. I love that the ingredients contain rosewater & glycerin which is good for your hair.
