你感到倦怠嗎？會不會覺得生活很努力卻提不起勁？其實並不是只有你，原來這整個社會的大多數人都感到倦怠，面對生活都是有許多力不從心的感覺。
「當你耗盡自身所有內部資源後，你感到精疲力竭，然而卻無法擺脫繼續前進的緊張情緒。這種隱約的疲憊感，即使從事睡眠或度假，都不會真正消失。」P16
在前言指出一項「#千禧世代」的研究，（出生於1981年－1996年為千禧世代），處於這個世代的多數人，一畢業即背負學貸、對抗有限的薪資、買不起的房子、結不了的婚、做不完的工作、為下一代存錢…等，都是這個世代所呈現的樣貌。
『而不論我們多麼努力地嘗試安排我們的生活或是緊縮已經相當有限的預算，承諾中穩定安全的成年生活似乎永遠不會到來。』P17
這一代負擔了更高的生活費用，其實不只是物價，書中提到了#養育 下一代，然而似乎未提及的還有#老年化社會，在中間成為夾心餅乾的我們，必須以一人之力頂二人以上之重量。
現在許多人必須用「#斜槓」來增加自己的產值，美其名是實現夢想，但是更多的是失去了快樂的時間、減少了自由的生活，努力付出的結果，卻鮮少有人得到相對應的報酬。
「我們大多數人其實更想要讀一本書而不是盯著手機，但是我們太累了，以至於我們所剩的精力只能用來不需動腦的滑手機。」P19。我們是否為了臣服於生存，而失去了許多獲得快樂的機會。
介於傳統與創新之間的交錯點，我們必須對上有禮且遵循，對下又得迎接科技發展的迅速，意即是上面是傳統的長官、下面是創新的政策，又成為職場上的夾心餅乾，在家庭教育上面也是如此，書中提及：
「對父母的用心良苦總是在抗拒和順從間擺盪；其他人則是一生都在努力表現和模擬他們從未被教導過的行為。」P55
《集體倦怠》是以美國為出發點做評析，但有非常多與我們有不謀而合之處印證在我們的身上，處於這個世代且生於千禧世代的我，看完真的不禁深深嘆一口氣（其實是非常多口氣），我總算明白自己為什麼總是深感無力，但同圖中抄錄的一段話，仍須繼續保持著緊張的情緒前進。
