off the charts 是一個在對話或影片中會聽到的慣用語，chart 是「#圖表」的意思，例如「長條圖」的英文是 bar chart, 「圓餅圖」的英文是 pie chart, 所以這個慣用語字面上的意思是「#在圖表外面」嗎？當你的朋友說 Your beauty is off the charts 你可別說 "What chart? A bar chart or pie chart?" :)

那到底 off the charts 是什麼意思呢？

其實，我們評論很多事情時都可以用數字來評估，並製成圖表，當一件事情「已無法再適用一般的圖表上的數字時」或「超出圖表範圍」，是不是就是「超乎預期；高到無法評估或測量」的意思呢？ 中文也有類似的「#破表」說法!

因此 off the charts 就有 「#處於極高水準的」或是「#非常受歡迎的；#極成功的」意思!
