Roasted Goose can be very expensive in Hong Kong. We had the Lai Fun (rice noodles) with Roasted goose drumstick 燒鵝全脾瀨 at Yat Lok Restaurant, and this already costs HKD$118.
Yat Lok is a One MICHELIN Star family-run restaurant, very famous for its roasted goose and popular among tourists. For me, roasted goose must accompany by Lai Fun 瀨粉 (Rice noodles - except when you order a whole roasted goose for dinner 😛) and Plum sauce is a must (see photo 1).
What do we think about Yat Lok’s roasted goose? I expected a juicier drumstick with a good balance of meat and fat 😛 Maybe I should choose roasted goose chest next time instead and would be more meaty and costs much cheaper too! (HKD$63 - roasted goose chest with rice noodles 鵝胸瀨)

It was so satisfying to see them adding the chestnut purée 見著啲栗子蓉慢慢擠出好滿足 ☺️ This Mont Blanc Chestnut has been on my to-eat list for so long. Finally went to 十常八九 on Monday (to avoid the crowd 🤭).
We ordered Mont Blanc Chestnut 🌰 and Sapsan Toast. I told the staff that I want to take videos of the Chestnut cake when I made my order, so they came to me before they added the chestnut purée.
Do I like my cake? It was so satisfying to see them adding the chestnut purée. What I like the most is the ice-cream cake underneath the purée.
While for Sapsan toast. I like its texture a lot - I can’t tell whether it is sweet scrambled egg or bread 🤭
We arrived at the café at 12:45pm on a Monday and the cafe was already full. There’s only 4 tables in the café, including 2 Tatami table. We waited for around 20 minutes. The café opens at 12:00 noon, meal time limited to 1.5 hour, so I recommend you to go there a little bit before 12 noon.
It is quite full to have both the desserts. What will I order next time? If I want a nice Instagram post - Mont Blanc Chestnut 🌰; If this is my lunch - Sapsan toast. If possible, why not both 😛
What did I order?

This time, we went to the wet market for congee 🤤 When you visit a Public wet market, go to the upper floor and check out the cooked food centres, where you can find a number of authentic HK food stalls!
We went to Fa Yuen Street Wet Market 花園街街市 earlier and checked out Mui Kee Congee妹記生滾粥品 Mui Kee Congee - Hong Kong , which has stood in Mong Kok for more than 40 years.
This place is famous for its 生滾粥 in which raw ingredients are cooked in boiling rice porridge such that their flavours blend into the congee.
The most exciting part is to see them cooking the fish belly with rice wine in a copper pot (swipe to see the video!).
We have ordered Fish belly congee 生滾魚腩粥 and Scholar Congee (with different pig organs 😅) 生滾及第粥. The two of them have a very different tastes. The fish belly congee has a stronger wok “flavour” 鑊氣 as it is cooked before adding to the congee. Which one do I like more?
Noted that it could be quite hot to have a bowl of hot congee during summer 😅
What did I order?
Rice noodle roll with fried dough stick炸兩 HKD$20
