The band has been taking a break since January of this year to figure out where we are emotionally and within the various stages of our lives. Making a commitment to a band like this (and a person like me) has not been easy and will never be easy - you can ask anyone in the photo here about their experiences both within and outside the band.
Either way...when we all look back at this and what we were all able to accomplish together - all these faces in this photo (and the ones who aren't here Mike, Gaeon, Wing, G, Fei Hin who kept the band going in dire times) took a little dream that I had when I started in 1999 and made it their own.
At 22 years old I came back to Hong Kong wanting to do something to help Hong Kong's underground community, who knew it would turn into what it did :-)
There are so many memories come flooding back...I still remember the day King Ly Chee joined a music festival in Tuen Mun (Gold Coast) in the summer of '99 and at the same competition a death metal band got on stage to compete. After they finished I ran to go say hello to them because I was so happy to hear extreme music in Hong Kong! They turned out to be Departing Cross...that guitar player Chai became a great friend of mine later. The drummer who would join them later (Man) would also become a member of King Ly Chee many MANY years later. I remember having the same response when I went to a show at the Warehouse in 1999 and saw a band called Hyponic get on stage and play doom metal and how happy I was to meet Roy and his wife Anita. They later even helped me translate MANY of the articles that were in my zine called 由零開始 Start From Scratch, as did Sammy of Lam Kei, and so many other friends. I remember touring China in 2000 for the first time and we stayed at Wu Wei (singer of SMZB)'s house with his mom, I remember traveling by train from Wuhan to Beijing for the first time and arriving in Beijing Train Station while the snow was falling around us, I remember getting on stage with Reflector-Brain Failure that night and becoming lifelong friends, I remember the next day Xiao Rong of Brain Failure took me to Scream Records to try to get the label to release our album "We Are Who We Are" in China, I remember putting my arms around Stephane and Alex as they cried on the plane leaving Korea after we played 6 shows in 3 days in Seoul in 2000, I remember getting my daily 4pm phonecalls from Kevin when he joined King Ly Chee, he would call every single day for the first year exactly at 4pm on his way to work at a tattoo shop and we'd talk about whatever like only brothers did, I remember Andy-Alex-Kevin and I recording "Stand Strong" until 5am every day and then going home for one hour then getting changed and going to our jobs, I remember touring Southeast Asia for the first time and meeting so many great people who are still good friends today, I remember touring Europe in 2006 in the fucking cold with Ming-Andy-Alex-Pong and dying cause it was so cold, I remember how on the way back from Europe while we were at the Dubai airport Alex told us that he had decided to leave and my heart broke into a million pieces because never in my life would i have ever thought he would leave the band, i remember after that andy and pong were like "don't worry - we'll keep the band going with you", i remember so many people saying that to me every time something happened - like Mike, Gaeon and Wing who sprung into action and helped the band continue somehow someway, i remember going on tour with NOFX and even though Fat Mike didn't like anything that was too metal sounding - El Hefe and Smelly always came to watch us play every night and they always said "man your guitar always sounds so HEAVY! i love it!", i remember receiving a random message from some guy named Brian who was living in australia and played in a nu-metal band, i remember many months later receiving his band's CD, i also remember later he sent me tracks of some really progressive metal songs that he had written, i remember that around this time the next heartbreak happened when andy decided he couldn't continue either, many months later that random ICQ (or was it MSN?) friend Brian was in king ly chee, i remember touring the philippines and after the last show of the tour we all stayed out with our Filipino brothers until the next morning talking - laughing, how about the time that i picked up my ultimate heroes from the airport in hong kong - the band that GOT me into hardcore back in '94 - mother fucking sick of it all!, holy shit...not only was i picking them up but i was the one organizing their first ever show in hong kong...holy fuck...
Memories like this can go on and on...because there are COUNTLESS stories like this to be told and shared with all of you...maybe one day there may be a book made :-)
For now...I want to first and foremost thank EVERY single person who has ever joined King Ly Chee for believing in me, believing in the band, believing in the purpose of the band, believing in the message...I know that some of these guys left the band not on good terms - but as my brother Kevin once said "Man - time heals everything" - I do hope that as time passes that every single one of these guys (and girl - we did have a girl vocalist for a year :-) will always remember their time in this band and the great things that we accomplished together.
Thank you everyone for giving us your hearts, believing in the band anytime in our 17 year existence...whether you were a fan of the Stephane-Ian lineup or the Stephane-Alex lineup or the Alex-Andy-Kevin lineup or the Alex-Andy-Pong-Ming lineup or the Andy-Pong-G lineup or the G-Brian-Pong-Man lineup or the Kent-Egas-Brian-Ho lineup or the Kent-Egas-Joe-Brian lineup or the Joe-Ivan-Brian-Ho lineup...whichever lineup you fell in love with - i can tell you from the bottom of my heart EVERY member gave 150% of their heart and soul to this band, to creating the music you heard, to playing those shows that you saw, to touring all over the world...
To this I live in eternal gratitude to these amazing individuals.
Lastly, thank you to every one of you all over this world who has supported the band. Thank you for your kindness, for your generosity, for your graciousness, for your heart...thank you for believing in this band.
I have about 13 demo songs that I had written this past year or so for a future King Ly Chee release - but now I guess I'll just put those online as a heartfelt thank you.

Such a hectic week I'm having and it's not quite done yet but I'm all ready!
Just to share with you guys, after so many date postponements since last year, I finally had to agree (willingly, nevertheless) to my 2 dearest Journalist friends' requests for a home-based photoshoot & a cookery video for 2 latest interactive online magazines, to be launched soon. Being chosen as the 1st Celebrity Chef to grace the issues was a great honour, indeed! 😊😊
Didn't have the time to plan for the menu until it was time for a last-minute grocery shopping which only started at 11.30am and ended exactly an hour later. Rushed home to mise-en-place for 5 recipes of my choice. Lucky the ideas emerged as soon as I saw the ingredients at the wet market closeby my home. I guess experience & passion count a lot, ey?
Immediately got onto the 'beast mode' of peeling, cutting, chopping, sautéing, boiling, etc. in order to complete nasi minyak Terengganu, beriani ayam Johor, opor daging Pahang, acar rawit telur puyuh dengan limau kasturi and pineapple & date crumble for the dessert in time. 6 guests arrived while I was still gracefully 'ballet-dancing' with my ever-so-loyal-but-iliterate maid. Received them, sat them down with a glass of iced fruit juice in their hands and a bowl of muruku trying to amuse them on my Philips' 47" flat screen.
Understanding my business in the kitchen, my 79 year-old mom played her part very well with her ever-so-sweet smile & non-stop chattering to kill the time.😉😉
Done with the 1st 4 dishes, food styling phase was next and Alhamdulillah the results were pleasing to our eyes!
After entertaining them to a satisfying late lunch, the 2nd team proceeded with a video recording and in the end, everyone was very happy, full and smiling their way home with a bag-full of Awang Brand products at 8.45pm or later, leaving me three-quarter dead! 😰😰😰
This morning started early too, sending my mom to UMMC for a thorough check-up. She is due for a surgery to replace a stent in her dysfunctional right kidney on Monday. Due to her diabetes, weak heart condition, hypertension, a careful screening & clearance from multiple medical consultants are imperative coz' her safety is paramount. This is going to be the 3rd year and I pray to Allah SWT that she will pull through it fine just as she always does. Considering what she has gone thru in life raising me up, a real fighter is what she is! 💪💪💪😍😍😍😍
After checking her into the hospital comfortably, I rushed to my culinary college in Puchong for endless meetings & discussions with a fellow partner & staff members alike. The topics ranging from common management issues to our upcoming convocation ceremony, marketing, man power, etc. You name it, we discussed them....well...almost all! 😜😜😜 (in between solat, lunch & snacking included, of course 😇😇)
Done with work at about 7'ish pm, drove quickly to UMMC again to be with my mom. The traffic was horrendous + sudden heavy rainfall + PJ road reroutings + exhaustion = total chaos! Fortunately I survived them all and made it fine to my ever-smiling mom sitting in her pink/red hospital pyjamas. That was my daily dosage that I really needed today...her sweet smile with her 'sepet' eyes looking at me walking towards her ready for a warm hug & kiss. We chatted for a while before I had to bid her good night 😊😊😊
Driving home with my maid sitting securely in the back seat like a Big Momma from Kalimantan, the traffic was yet again almost unbearable. But we made it to Kota Damansara safe and sound. Right before reaching home, she 'whispered' that it's that time of the month again starting with 'a heavy flow' and she ran out of 'cushions'. In my 'half-asleep, half-driving mode', I felt like stuffing her mouth with my smelly socks! Sooooo geram! She always does this to me...telling me when she had already ran out. I really wanted her to use our floor rugs to stop the 'heavy flow' just for tonight but I couldn't! So we stopped at Guardian Pharmacy and the best thing was I had to go in asking the young, cute Salesgirl for 'a suitable brand'. And as an icing on the cake, she HAD to ask me "Chef Zam, with or without wings?" I just felt like flying away for good!! 😲😲😲😲
Reached home, fed my 3 hungry cats, showered, solat Isyak, had some left-overs for dinner well after 9pm and thinking what to wear for my live RTM1's TV appearance at 11am on 'Apa Kata Wanita' with Zamzarina Zambri tomorrow morning. Btw, don't forget to tune in, yea? 😆😆😉😉😊😊
After the TV thingy done, gotta rush to AEON One Utama for my Awang Brand's cooking demo in conjunction with its Chinese New Year promo starting at 3pm. Luckily my culinary students are highly intelligent & reliable. Love them! 😙😙😙
Oh well, I'm feeling soooo good after pouring it all out! Doing all these alone making me really wish that I had 3 dozen of brothers or sisters to shoulder some of my sometimes-unbearable-burdens. But unfortunately I don't 😕😕. I guess being 'Chef Zam' ain't as easy as it may seem, afterall.
But again, I'm very thankful for whatever 'wealth' I may have and most of all, very grateful to Allah for being given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to care for my ailing mom coz' not everyone has this priceless luck!
For that, ALHAMDULILLAH. May Allah bless us all with His mercy. Aameen 😇😇😊😊💪💪👌👌

You are melting into sunset
I am fading into sunrise
If our path never cross again
Then, that is the way it is
You're turning on the lamp
I'm searching for the light
We both have nothing to fear, nothing to lose
We both have nothing at all in the first place
See you, see you again
Those boys' eyes aren't innocent anymore
Those evening bells are ringing out but can't be heard anymore
That is, that is almost like
Everything seems to be over
Far from it, We've got a long way to go, and I'll never forget...
Ah Let's forget everything and go home
Ah Let everything flow away and go home
Though that scar hurts, tho this thirst never be quenched
That doesn't matter anymore, Let's blow them all away
Let's go home with a nice breeze
Let's go home with a gentle rain
What is the use of hating each other
I'm, I'm gonna be the first one to forget
You are worried about the future
I am still attached to the past
This is our last time, I'm supposed to be a God
But still we are too much human
I looked at the world without me
From above, and I found out
It keeps on turning exactly the same as always
That made me feel easy somewhat
See you, see you again
We say farewell at the right before the highway
Leaving all the hustle-bustle behind, I walk alone
Taking, All my life was about taking
And not a bit of giving
Not knowing the meaning of this life I've lived
Ah, Let's give everything and go home
Ah, With empty hands, Let's go home
What we can give is just what we are given
Let's say thank you and be honored
I'm waiting for you, Let's go home
Let's go home where happiness never ends
What can we take with us when we leave this world
Let go of the burdens we're carrying, one by one
What is the use of hating each other
I'm, I'm gonna be the first one to forget
Ah, How am I going to live from today

【Pixar動畫】
「?動畫電影結局總是美好,然而社會並非那般簡單,認清後或會失望。
Cause stories won’t last once you wake from your dreams.??♀️」
On the track, the 17-year-old pop singer shouts out Pixar films like A Bug's Life, WALL-E, The Incredibles and Toy Story, while grappling with harsh realities of growing up. "At age of nine, I lived through Pixar on a screen/ And every single problem seemed so little then to me/ 'Cause Flik still saved the anthill even though I couldn't see beyond/ The kids at school that hated me and my insecurity/ Oh I thought I was invincible/ But Mr. Incredible could only take so much," he croons on the melancholy single.
“'Fairytale" is about the moment where someone you look up to lets you down," Livingston, who hails from Denton, Texas, tells Billboard. "Putting this idea in the form of Pixar superheroes felt like the right way for me to tell my story. Everyone knows these stories and their moral lessons, so drawing from them gave me a really easy starting point to express my warning about putting all of your faith in someone who is just as human as you are.”
“We knew there was something special about Livingston from the moment we met him," add Elektra Music Group co-presidents Mike Easterlin and Gregg Nadel. "At seventeen years old, it’s already evident he is a true artist -- from writing and recording to mixing and producing all on his own, we know it’s just the beginning for Livingston. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome him to the Elektra family.”
"Fairytale," the Texas-born teen's debut major label release, is below.

Lyrics:
At age of nine I lived through Pixar on a screen
And every single problem seemed so little then to me
Cause Flik still saved the anthill even though I couldn’t see beyond
The kids at school that hated me and my insecurity
Oh I thought I was invincible
But Mr. Incredible can only take so much and
I made my heart invisible
Cause I thought that WALL-E could still find love with an empty soul
So keep me awake
Just look in my eyes
I’m trying to let go
I try to forget
The fairytale lies
But it’s all that I’ve known
I was so scared to open up that door
Worried that the world outside wasn’t my home anymore
This isn’t Andy’s room, these aren’t the toys I used to know
What happened to the stories I was told
Then my mother asked me
Could you find confidence
Beyond Lightning McQueen
Cause stories won’t last once you wake from your dreams
I looked her in the eyes and asked her what it all means
If my heroes can only go so far
Oh I thought I was invincible
But Mr. Incredible can only take so much and
I made my heart invisible
Cause I thought that WALL-E could still find love with an empty soul
So keep me awake
Just look in my eyes
I’m trying to let go
I try to forget
The fairytale lies
But it’s all that I’ve known
Then my mother asked me
Could you find confidence
Beyond Lightning McQueen
Cause stories won’t last once you wake from your dreams
I looked her in the eyes and asked her what it all means
If my heroes can only go so far

Even while winding up a five-game road trip, the Denver Nuggets were able to muster enough defensive intensity to stay in the Western Conference playoff hunt.
Allen Iverson had 26 points and seven assists, while Carmelo Anthony finished with 23 points and nine rebounds as the Nuggets used a big second half to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies 120-106 on Monday night.
"We wanted to end this road trip the right way," said Marcus Camby, who had 15 rebounds. "In the first half, we didn't play particularly well. ... We knew eventually if we picked up our level of defense, we had enough scoring to put a lot of points on the board.
"I think our defense really won the game in the second half."
Denver, fighting for the last playoff spot in the Western Conference, trails Golden State by one game and seventh-place Dallas by 1½. Golden State was playing the Lakers late Monday night.
The Nuggets face Dallas and Golden State at home Thursday and Saturday respectively.
J.R. Smith led the Nuggets, scoring 25 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter, as Denver stretched the lead to as many as 22 in winning its third straight. Smith was 8-of-10 in the period, including seven outside the arc.
"Amazing," said Kenyon Martin, who missed only one of his eight shots while recording 14 points and 10 rebounds.
"You've just got to take one shot at a time," Smith said of the streak after shooting 1-of-5 before intermission. "In the first half, it was awful, so I came out early at halftime and tried to get my rhythm back."
Rudy Gay led Memphis with 30 points, while Hakim Warrick finished with a season-high 29. Mike Miller added 19 and Javaris Crittenton 14.
"[The Nuggets] just picked it up a notch in the third quarter and came out with a lot of steam," Memphis coach Marc Iavaroni said. "They [caused] a couple of turnovers, and we had a couple of missed open shots and a layup. That is just a little to much for us."
Memphis led at halftime, but the Nuggets outscored the Grizzlies 37-22 in the third period to build their lead to 14. Memphis was unable to overcome the deficit, particularly after Smith scored 16 points, including 13 straight for Denver, by the midway point of the fourth. At that point, Denver held a 109-95 lead, matching its biggest margin of the night at that point.
The loss snapped Memphis' two-game winning streak.
Memphis, which had won three of its previous four, had no answer for the Nuggets after halftime as Denver connected on 24 of 40 shots. The Nuggets already had built the lead in the third quarter, and then it was as if the Grizzlies couldn't find Smith. He had open looks outside the arc and helped Denver continue to extend the lead.
"I thought the tempo of the game got faster," Nuggets coach George Karl said. "We created a lot of the tempo with turnovers and got our defensive hands active."
Memphis overcame early defensive lapses to erase a Denver lead and carry a 57-51 advantage into the break.
The Nuggets were getting to the rim in the first quarter on dunks by Martin and assists by Iverson leading to inside baskets. Memphis didn't get back on defense several times, leading to easy scores as the Nuggets shot 55 percent early and held a 14-4 advantage in the paint.
But Memphis scored in a variety of ways from dunks by Gay to Warrick hitting jumpers from 15 to 20 feet. That allowed Memphis to erase the early Nuggets advantage, and lead by as many as nine in the second quarter.
Denver's defense to open the second half included blocked shots and pressure that led to Memphis turnovers. Martin, whose only miss was an airball on a baseline jumper, still was getting loose for dunks, and the Nuggets shot better from the outside. Meanwhile, Memphis was missing seven of it first eight shots in the period.
"They just hit the shots, some big shots. Shots that didn't fall for them in the first half," Warrick said. "I think they did a good job of protecting the rim. Made some good blocks."
And that was enough intensity and defensive pressure for the Nuggets to overcome a sluggish first half.
"The last game of a road trip, usually fatigue comes in," Camby said. "But we have a lot of veterans on this team, and they know the importance of every ballgame, especially down the stretch"
