【From Taiwan with Love: A Story of an Indonesian Student Who is Struggling in NTPU】
^_^
Hi there, my name is Muhammad Hafizhuddin Al Ghifary, and you can call me Muhammad I come from Indonesia and the eldest son from 5 siblings in my family. I graduated from the Al Azhar Indonesia University (UAI) in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in International Relations (IRs) and University’s Best Graduate. I am currently pursuing my master’s degree in International Program on Urban Governance (IPUG) at the 國立臺北大學National Taipei University (NTPU), under the Ministry of Education Taiwan scholarship 2018. It is such an opportunity for me to get to know deeper about Formosa, Taiwan. It was a tough decision for me to go to Taiwan since I had no any intention to study abroad but an accident. Besides, as a Muslim, I came up with a critical question that haunted me, "can I practice my Muslim faith in a non-Muslim country? Will I be safe?” But I soon remembered a famous Dutch proverb that goes “Leiden is lijden,” Leading is Suffering, in other words, I must always be prepared no matter what happens.
It was such a memorable "welcoming" moment when I was touching down Taiwan for the very first time. I was waiting for my senior to fetch me at the airport while having lunch. There came a senior lady who was working for a food shop asking for permission to have lunch in front of me at the same table since many tables were occupied during that time. Then I encouraged myself to greet her by saying "ni hao," and soon she started talking to me a little bit longer in Chinese in which I didn't understand since I never learned it before. Luckily, there was a clerk who was able to speak English and helped me to interpret between the senior lady and me. We were having a very pleasant conversation until my senior came and we're about to leave. Suddenly, the senior lady told me to wait for a second, and she grabbed her Pearl Milk Tea which it was the first time I tasted the favorite drink in Taiwan. Seeing her friend did that, the clerk who helped me interpreting also rushed into her room to grab me a Taiwanese cookie. I was surprised and couldn't help but speechless receiving the heart-kindness of Taiwan from both ladies. Since then, I have already considered Taiwan as my second HOME!
Being a student in IPUG is such a grace for me. The campus location is really strategic, natural with a mini forest and artificial lake. It's open for public so that we can have sports and recreation with our family. The buildings are astonishing, especially when it comes to the library building that shaped an owl. The teachers are really nice and humble. Not to mention they are really friendly. I still remembered when one teacher treated my classmate and me a Taiwanese iced cream dessert after finishing our assignments in the middle our class running. And the list still goes on and on after one teacher treated us. Moreover, the teachers are really broad and open-minded. They graduated from many top universities in the world, such as University of Cambridge, University of Washington and the Maryland. So no wonder how they would teach and guide us in Urban Governance study.
After all, Taiwan has made speechless with the all beauties within it. And I would say that there is no better place for you to study Urban-related in a calm environment with outstanding teachers but in IPUG, NTPU. My dear beloved brothers and sisters out there, I dare you to come to Taiwan and join us in IPUG!

Identification with the aggressor

' How to throw away ' is a really controversial movie in the online world. Many people like many people don't like personal people. For doctors, I have to tell that this movie makes me keep thinking for days. Doctors love it.
(Especially the song to plant 9,999 red roses. It reflects in the head inception. 55)
Many people don't even like Chinese scolding on Twitter. The comments are so powerful. Doctors inspired to write this article.
(I'm about to be spoiled to the fullest)
.
Doctors feel that they understand China because China is similar to people with mental health problems. Many people talked about, Chinese has an Immature Defense mechanism (meaning mental defense mechanism that is not quite good).
This is because of the childhood experience too.
One is Identification with the aggressor
Jean did it to M as his own father did it. She left China with the family as a kid. She left her family to suffer continuously. Mother doesn't look very okay. Singing over and over again. She didn't have to go to bed. She couldn't
You act like you don't care about your dad. But it's not. You care about your dad. Hurt no different than your mom. But you use mental defense mechanism. Refuse to not accept feelings because it may be hurt beyond patience and without knowing. You pass the pain you have for your boyfriend. Brother M left him like a garbage disposal. No contact. No contact. Tell me why he did that.
.
Many people say Jean is selfish. She doesn't care about anyone. She actually cares. She doesn't care about her friend's night scene or when she finds a photo in a hard disk or when she says sorry to her best friend.
Even though I'm not good at it, you care about it. Many times, I reject your feelings. Especially with my father.
.
Jean started to feel really hurt. Crying to understand her feelings after she called her dad asking dad about the old piano if she could leave it. (The doctor likes this scene. She didn't hear the father's voice but knew that the father said each other. She did n' Any one hurts the audience for China too)
In fact, she feels bad about her dad leaving, but she has been denied her feeling.
At least Jean will be relieved after talking to her dad because she should start to understand herself and others more pain.
Chinese tears. At the end, I would like to tell people that China knows how China feels and knows how Brother M is hurt.
.
If you can accept it, you can move on to Move on.
You can leave it. But you have to leave it consciously. Don't leave it irresponsible and Healthy. Don't leave it with Immature Defense and often use of mental mechanisms. It can result in mental health problems.

Sir Isaac Newton's 1st Law of Motion:
"An object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line, unless compelled to change its state by an external force."
This reminds me of a how a vacant house has no Feng Shui influence to speak of. Unless a person comes in to stay.
The energy field from the human will stir up the energies dormant in the house.
This interaction will give rise to a good or bad pattern Feng Shui, that subsequently affects the occupant's life.
My job is to create good patterns and disrupt bad patterns.
People and their home Feng Shui cannot start, stop, or change direction all by themselves. It requires some force from the outside to catalyse a change.
I am like the external force as stated in the 1st Law.
But one of the greatest forces that I was taught early by Shifu to deal with...
Is the mental blocks in people.
.
#1
I sometimes hear these from clients and readers.
"I am a logical person, so I am unsure what to think of Chinese Metaphysics."
This sounds like all geomancers are illogical people. 😄
No, we are thinking people too. Our parents didn't raise us up to be mystical beings like unicorns who poo rainbow.
The years we spend mastering our skills are in no way less comparable to your time in schools.
.
#2
"I want to keep an open mind, and hear what you have to say."
I have mixed feelings about this phrase, open mind.
Are we getting too westernised in our education, that anything not taught in school is considered unorthodox?
And to understand Chinese Metaphysics, something that's unique to our Chinese culture, needs an open mind?
Must be stifling to live with a closed mind like that.
It sometimes sound like they are doing me a favour when they need to open their minds to listen to me speak. 😄
When I probe further to ask what lead to their clamped minds, I get different answers.
Some blame it on their bad experiences with certain Feng Shui practitioners.
Some had parents/friends/spouses who learnt Chinese Metaphysics, yet these people aren't successful in any way for them to look up to.
A bad student doesn't always mean the teacher is lousy or the school sucks.
Others couldn't give me a logical answer. They just follow-the-herd.
In other words, it was an emotional decision for them to disregard our ancestral ancient wisdom.
Nothing logical about it.
.
#3
"I am a scientific person, but I believe there is more to Science in this universe. So I'm somewhat curious about what Feng Shui can do for me."
I'm happy that you are making space to take in new knowledge. But some questions.
What Science did you study?
Only those developed by the Western civilisations?
How long and how much did you study?
How about the science that is developed by our ancestors?
Or are you so Ang-Mohdified that you only accept science from the Western world and not those from our roots?
If you formulate a hypothesis that Chinese Metaphysics is woowoo talk, what experiments have you carried out, how many and under what conditions?
Who monitors the experiments and how qualified is the person? Who are your test subjects? What is your sample size?
Or you assume your hypothesis stands as a well-established theory, without all these testing?
That would be disgracefully illogical, my Friend, and no way will you qualify to declare yourself as a scientific person.
Modern science is only about 400 years old.
Chinese Metaphysics spans over 5000 years.
How can a 400-year-old understand something as dense and complex as a 5000-year-old?
I hail from a pure Science background.
If you had spent the same effort as I did, learning from the right Teachers, you too would realise the Science in Chinese Metaphysics, instead of saying "there is more to Science".
Chinese Metaphysics is more scientific than modern Science in so many ways.
If only you know the experiments our ancestors did on themselves to establish this great vault of knowledge to benefit humanity.
My advice: don't be too quick to label others as unscientific or superstitious, when you know and did nothing.
.
I particularly like this example quoted by a well-known TCM professor and physician, Prof Fan Zheng Lun. He is from China and has about 40 years of clinical experience. He has also appeared in several TV shows to talk about his experience.
He used this simple example to illustrate the difference in TCM and Western Medicine, to students in Beijing University:
My translation:
"When I was lecturing to the students in Beijing University, they asked me what the difference in Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine is.
Simply put, when you buy a watermelon in summer, you want to get a good one. Whether you know how to do it or not, you will hold the watermelon up, and knock on it. You will listen to the sound and examine it.
What are you looking at? You are looking, listening, questioning and feeling the pulse (TCM four ways of diagnosis), aren't you?
I say, if it's a very experienced and veteran watermelon farmer, he would not even need to knock on the watermelon. With a single look, he can tell you that this melon is raw and that melon is ripe. Why? He observes its appearance, and he knows it in his mind.
What does Western medicine do?
They will either cut it up to examine, or extract some liquid from the stem, the top, and the middle part of the melon. The liquids will be sent to the laboratory for analysis, and then they will tell you this melon is ripe and this melon is sweet.
If you ask him whether the melon flesh is firm or mushy, he will need to do an X-ray to know.
But not the veteran watermelon farmer. When he figures out the production place of the watermelon and the climatic weather of this year, he will dare to tell you that this melon has firm and crunchy flesh.
That is the difference between Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine."
A western approach is not always the best way to understand everything.
It is also not the ONLY way to make sense of the world around us.
If you have been misunderstanding our Chinese ancestral wisdom, I say it's high time to build new neural pathways.
We have high brain plasticity.
Live like you own it.
Don't look down on the wisdom of our Chinese ancestors.
I don't subscribe to nonsense like things are fated.
It is always the people that refuse to change.
