Now that the baby is a month old, it's time for our weekend family exploration to resume! Yup, I have been looking forward to going out again with the kids, especially since we didn't manage to do much during the March hols.
Sooooo.. we travelled far this time round and visited @jurongfrogfarm (which is not in Jurong but in Lim Chu Kang). The moment we reached, the hubby was saying that it looked old and run-down, and that we would probably stay for a brief while only so I even left the stroller and my diaper bag in the car.
Well, it turned out that we stayed for over an hour eventually! Why? Firstly, we made our way to feed the frogs, where you can buy the food from the shop at $2 per tub. There were three feeding pens which were filled with frogs but it didn't seem like they were very hungry.
Next, the hubby discovered that you could go frog catching at $10 per pax for 30 minutes! He asked if the kids wanted to try and as expected, the girls were game enough and said yes, especially the firstborn who loves animals, bugs and all kinds of creatures. I didn't expect the 5yo boy to want to try and in fact, I told him we could just watch from the side. It turned out that he asked if he could join in and do it as a trio. Yup, of course, we let him try though I was quite sure he wouldn't be plucky enough to pick up any frog.
I was proven wrong because after seeing how his sisters did it - Angel was an expert from the start while Ariel learnt the techniques shortly - this boy managed to do it on his own not once, not twice but many times.
There was initially no one else but when passers-by saw our kids learning to pick up frogs and being gentle with them, over half a dozen of them let their kids try it out too. Woohoo! Yup, so we stayed till the end because the girls were busy carrying the frogs to all the newcomer kids and telling them not to be afraid.
It was a first experience for them and let's just say they are definitely braver than Mama (who is squeamish just watching them with the frogs, like how I still don't like mealworms but the kids hold and treat them as pets). Looking forward to more learning trips and fun adventures as a family!

Guy goes into 7/11 to make a statement about plastic bag waste, sees single bananas wrapped individually, disgusted he walks out.

But this guy calls himself DG, he's the Public Relations coordinator for Grin Green International, the world's first student based NGO. These secondary school kids are fed up with the state of Thailand's gross abuse of single use plastic and archaic attitude to environmental issues. They intend to make their voices heard through public appearances and peaceful protests.
Today they toured through Bangkok's most iconic landmarks, from Emquartier to Asoke and Asiatique, holding boards and urging passers by to sign their petition. Are these the local heros we've all been waiting for? Let's hope this is only the beginning to an end.
Look out for The Plastic Monster!

China has shocked me over the years by being both incredibly warm, friendly and open whilst at the same time being incredibly cold, heartless and seemingly morally corrupt, however what has led society over here to reach its current state? Come with me as I discuss the appalling lack of good Samaritans here in China...
What is an Evil Uncle?: https://youtu.be/VlxUZmXuKVw
Wang Yue (Chinese: 王悦; pinyin: Wáng Yuè), also known as "Little Yue Yue" (Chinese: 小悅悅), was a two-year-old Chinese girl who was run over by two vehicles on the afternoon of 13 October 2011 in a narrow road in Foshan, Guangdong. As she lay bleeding on the road for more than seven minutes, at least 18 passers-by skirted around her body, ignoring her. She was eventually helped by a female rubbish scavenger and sent to a hospital for treatment, but succumbed to her injuries and died eight days later. The closed-circuit television recording of the incident was uploaded onto the Internet, and quickly stirred widespread reaction in China and overseas. Many commentators saw this as indicative of a growing apathy in contemporary Chinese society.
Closed-circuit footage of the incident was broadcast by a local television station, then posted online. The footage sparked worldwide news reports, and triggered dozens of editorials and millions of posts on social media sites, the majority criticizing the callousness and cruelty of those who passed Wang Yue without helping her.
Previously, there have been incidents in China, such as the Peng Yu incident in 2006, wherein Good Samaritans who helped people injured in accidents were accused of having injured the victim themselves and in many cases were forced to pay for the victim's medical bills. Some commentators have explained that this may have caused people to fear getting in trouble for doing the right thing in Wang's case, thus failing to help.
The Communist Party Chief of the Guangdong province, Wang Yang, called the incident "a wake-up call for everybody". The Sina Weibo website attracted more than 4.5 million posts on the incident within a few days and launched a "stop apathy" campaign online. There are also reports that some of the 18 people identified in the camera footage have received harassment, threats, and crank calls since the news broke.
In November 2011, the results of a poll by the China Youth Daily, the official Communist party newspaper for youth, showed that 80% of the young people surveyed said they had been following the case closely, and 88% of those polled thought Wang died because of growing indifference [in China] towards other people. A majority, 71%, also thought the people who passed the child without helping were afraid of getting into trouble themselves. According to an article by Chen Weihua, deputy editor of the China Daily, China's most widely circulated English-language newspaper, "Various surveys in the past weeks have shown that the majority of the people polled believe our morals have suffered a major setback in the past decade."

See the neon lights and passers by, like starlight out of place
As the golden sky turns into night,
you leave without a trace.
Seems I never really knew you,
with so much left unsaid.
So I walked in your steps and stopped where you stayed
Just finally to see your face
Then I heard it
Lalalalalalalalala
Oh I just wanna be yours
It was as simple as the writing on the wall
Oh I just wanna be yours
It took you leaving me for us to be
Closer together, clo-oser together and
Maybe it's too late but hear me through this song
I just wanna be
Sitting next to you and reading poems from your eyes
Seeing stories tell themselves with jubilation in your smile
Though I never really knew you
And now that you have left
I can walk in your steps and stop where you stayed
Just finally to see your face
Then I heard it
Lalalalalalalalala
Oh I just wanna be yours
It was as simple as the writing on the wall
Oh I just wanna be yours
It took you leaving me for us to be
Closer together, clo-oser together and
Maybe it's too late but hear me through this song
I just wanna be
Your, your, yours tonight
Your, your, yours tonight
And every time I close my eyes
Like a movie playing in reverse and
Hold on
To the silence of our love
Now I can hear it
Then I heard it
Lalalalalalalalala
Oh I just wanna be yours
It was as simple as the writing on the wall
Oh I just wanna be yours
It took you leaving me for us to be
Closer together, clo-oser together and
Maybe it's too late but hear me through this song
And I just wanna be
Your, your, yours tonight
Your, your, yours tonight
I just wanna be
Your, your, yours tonight
Your, your, yours tonight
I just wanna be yours
