🤧 Colds and Flus
The common cold, usually just called the cold, is an infectious disease of the upper respiratory tract that mostly affects the nose, throat and sinuses. Typical symptoms include coughing, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, and sneezing. Many different strains of viruses cause the cold, but rhinoviruses are the most common. The cold can also be caused by coronaviruses—the same family of viruses responsible for Wuhan pneumonia, SARS and MERS.
And then there’s the flu, which is short for influenza. The flu is caused by the influenza virus, a family of viruses that also includes H1N1—the virus responsible for both the Spanish flu (which killed around 50 million people!) and the swine flu. The flu produces the same symptoms as the cold, plus high fever, chills, headaches and muscle and joint pain. While colds usually don’t result in serious health problems, the flu can cause complications like pneumonia and bacterial infections.
When talking about colds and flus, we can use the verbs “have” and “catch.” Ex: Don’t come too close to me—I have a cold. I caught the flu last week and missed two days of work. We can also use the phrase “come down with.” Ex: I think I’m coming down with the flu. Brian came down with a cold and stayed home all weekend. And sometimes a cold or flu is referred to colloquially as a “bug.” Ex: My throat feels scratchy—I think I may have caught a bug.
Don’t come too close to me—I have a cold.(別靠近我,我感冒了。)或是I caught the flu last week and missed two days of work.(我上個禮拜得了流感,請了兩天假。)也可以用片語come down with表達,如:I think I’m coming down with the flu. Brian came down with a cold and stayed home all weekend.(布萊恩感冒了,整個週末都待在家。) My throat feels scratchy—I think I may have caught a bug.(我的喉嚨癢癢的,我猜我可能感冒了。)

2. stuffy nose「

🎯 1) A Bagna Cauda バーニャ•カウダ ¥420 with Seasonal Vegetable sticks, with a warm anchovies & butter & olives emulsified sauce for dips. Japan currently is noticeably on an Italian Bagna Cauda and Spanish Ajillo trend, you can see them around every corner. But over at here, it is totally appropriate because instead of Cabbage leaves, they give you local colourful Vegetables to pair with your Chicken Yakitori 🌈
🎯 2) Fresh Chicken’s Yukke with Egg Yolk & Natto beans
🎯 3) Grilled Foie Chicken Liver with Reba Teki style sauce, which has warm scallion & sesame oil Basically if you’re in Kyushu, you must eat their grilled fattened up Chicken Livers... most shops I have been to so far have enviable quality. It’s fatty and melts in your mouth, none of the dry powdery and gamey stuff.. Seriously if they could put this into a Cantonese Gold Coin Chicken or even congee.
🎯4) Grilled Wagyu Beef with Runny Egg & Sea Urchin on top ~ 炙り和牛と煮卵うにのせ 二貫 $880. Quality of Wagyu and too rare cooking, plus gimmicky Urchins with too much Myoban preservative taste was so-so
🎯 5) Fresh slaughtered Chicken & Cartilage Tsukune balls with Egg Not bad but average tasting on a linear scale in Fukuoka the land of chicken, considering anything available in Japan is almost too good for HK already... this was just ok!
Half good and half misses here for me!! But great concept and service!

- This video goes over the types of over-the-counter drugs (and other drugstore items like condoms and birth control!) that are available in Japan, as well as their current price as of March 22, 2012, and their price converted to US dollars at the current exchange rate of $1 to ¥82.71. I apologize for any inconsistencies with the exchange rate--I edited this video over the course of a few days so the rate may have changed marginally throughout that time!
As for the drugs that are illegal to bring: anything that contains more than 10% pseudoephedrine. To summarize wikipedia: Pseudoephedrine can be found in antihistamines, anti-mucus drugs, anti-cough drugs, pain relievers and NSAIDs (like aspirin or ibuprofen). Because pseudoephedrine can be used to make meth, many drug companies have begun producing products with reduced amounts or no pseudoephedrine, so not all of the above listed types of drugs will contain it. Just make sure you check before you bring any medicine to Japan!
