Taiwan College and graduate students, you still have one week to complete your 2021 SEASAT Youth Camp application. This year promising youth leaders will come together for a 3-day camp in Taipei, focused on leadership, learning, and networking activities. Qualified applicants include citizens of Taiwan or countries in Southeast or South Asia who are currently living in Taiwan, 18 to 24 years old, with a strong command of English and demonstrated leadership potential. Camp expenses will be covered by the organizers. The 2021 youth camp will focus on Global Equality in the Era of Pandemic, and successful applicants will demonstrate a strong interest in this area. Summer holidays are here but lockdowns and Covid 19 have put a halt on many of our plans. But have they really?

With youth looking for ways to kill time, we've put together something super special to get them productive and engaged with the deen by bringing summer camp to you in the comfort and security of your home.

What is Camp of Deen you ask? It is an action-packed and engaging 3 Week online faith summer camp for Muslim youth.

Keep your teens productively engaged this August with dynamically curated modules covering faith essentials that every young Muslim must know, especially in the world we live in today.

The camp will be delivered by an amazing lineup of renowned mentors and inspiring speakers.

Miner’s Café (礦工 Café) 鞍山探索館 is where you can find different types of mine-themed food! Having a mine rock is absolutely a fun way to learn the history of mining industry in Hong Kong. My recommendations are the mine rock cookies, hand-dripped Coffee (the restaurant also organizes hand-dripped coffee workshops!) and the fermented Tofu Bun 腐乳饅頭 (what miners in Hong Kong ate!). And a bowl of ToFu pudding (豆腐花) is perfect after a long hike in summer! The café only opens on weekend, from 10 am to 5 pm.

Ma On Shan 馬鞍山, which literally means horse saddle mountain, was formerly mined for its magnetite (bring a magnet with you!).
Don’t miss the An Shan Discovery Centre (鞍山探索館), which is right next to the Café, to learn more about the history of Ma On Shan and the mining Industry of Hong Kong. You will be able to see rare photos of the old mine caves and magnetite found in Ma On Shan Area.

How to go: It is VERY difficult to find the Miner’s cafe as it is in the countryside. Take MTR to Ma On Shan station, and then take green taxi OR take village bus NR84 at On Luk Street 鞍祿街. This café is where hikers stay after their long hike in Ngong Ping 昂平/Pyramid hill 大金鐘

CISV Step-up in Holland 2017: This is my VLOG of the CISV Step-up camp, as a member of the Hong Kong CISV delegation.

Founded in 1950 by children's psychologist Dorris Allen, CISV began as a summer camp for 11 year old children to gather and learn about peace and understanding, build inter-cultural friendships, and "learn through doing". Since then, the organization has grown to over 200 chapters in 70 different countries. CISV works towards creating a world of peace. The organization believes that by taking this responsibility to teach peace and understanding starting at such a young age and providing programs for all ages after that, they too can make a difference.

CISV Step-up camps are for 14-15-year-olds, whereas CISV village is for 11 year old. Also, CISV has Youth Meetings camps, Interchange camps, and Seminar camps for children of difference ages.
