We women are such self-critics. I don’t think I have ever met a woman who’s 100% contented and happy with the way she looks. It’s always “I wish I have fairer skin”, “I wish I am skinner”, “I wish I have double-eyelids” and when they do, they wish for thick double eyelids. Women. Lol. I am guilty as charged.
Let us not be so hard on ourselves. Women and men alike, let’s celebrate us! It’ll be so easy if I had asked you to list 5 things you don’t like about yourself, right? Today, let’s try listing 5 things you love about the way you look. (Of course, it shouldn't just all be about the aesthetic.) But let today be all about the aesthetic! We are all beautiful in our unique ways. Just cos some of us don’t fall into the “conventional beauty” category, it doesn’t make us less special or beautiful.
I'll go first:
I love my height. Although I hated it when I was young.
I love my small eyes with thin double eye-lid.
I love my long limbs, that used to make me look awkward when I was a kid.
I love my button nose. They r small and flat, but I think they r perfect for me.
I love skin color. Although I can’t remember why I used to think being tanner makes me better.
It was not always this easy to list what I love about my looks. Like many women, I find myself so imperfect, especially growing up in an industry where there actually is a measurement of ideal beauty.
Contentment isn’t about how much you have; it is about appreciating what you already have.
