This #WorkoutWednesday post was supposed to be about my wonderful discovery of the Deep Stretches from the yoga world, but it turns out my me-time during the day does not last long enough for me to finish the whole 35 minutes of the whole sequence I found on YouTube 🥲
But whenever I am unmotivated to move (99% of the time) or haven’t worked out in a long time (also 99% of the time...does the math work out?), I always take my time to stretch.
I never go straight into a workout or force myself to move, I ease into it and listen to the sloth that lives inside of me. 🦥 Can you tell by my pajamas top and yoga pants combo? 😆
Jokes aside, this deep stretching thing blows my mind, because it got my muscles so sore after I completed the whole sequence last time in one go (not videotaped)! Apparently, deep stretching can tone your muscles, help you become more flexible, give you a mood boost and just overall really good for you!
You hold each position longer but if you do this type of stretching once in awhile, it’s better than doing “shallow” stretches every day 🧘🏻♀️
I have always loved to stretch, but now I am CRAZY over it.
Call me a stretching fanatic 🙋🏻♀️

It’s Tuesday morning around 9 am. I’m sitting on my yoga mat, resting my back against the window in my bedroom. I just practiced yoga and meditated for a bit.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I closed my eyes to meditate just now, I kept having images of nature: grass, trees, ocean.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I saw myself embracing and being embraced by the great big green, frolicking on the grass, standing knee-deep in the water.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I saw myself dancing with the waves, moving my body to the rhythms of nature.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I know why I saw those images: I miss nature.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Like many others, and perhaps like you too, I’ve been in lockdown for more than a month now. It’s difficult to feel nourished by nature in the middle of concrete blocks and steel bars.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve tried complaining and discovered that it didn’t do me good.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So I don’t want to complain anymore.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can meet nature when I close my eyes.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can still breathe the air, and remember that this very in-breath I take is part of a rainbow eucalyptus tree’s out-breath somewhere far away.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can still look at the little plant in my apartment, whose name I don’t know and whose roots I just repotted in new soil, as she stands with her tiny leaves so vulnerably in the light coming through my window. And remember that mother Earth is breathing through her.

Perhaps I can feel the water in my body and remember that the ocean is within me all along...

You may have a strong kick ass asana practice.
You might be able to chant in Sanskrit until the cows come home.
You might drink green juice all day every day, BUT...

- When was the last time you helped someone, without expecting something in return?
- When was the last time you offered yourself in service to your community?
- When was the last time you took responsibility for a mistake and worked to make amends?
- When was the last time you chose to use kindness, instead of criticism to express your point?
- When was the last time you looked at your own defects of character and worked to replace them with more positive virtues?

Yoga is so much more than a physical practice.
Yoga requires doing a lot of deep inner work, soul searching and being willing to change and grow.
Yoga is at it's very core about learning to behave in a way that cultivates peace within our Self and thus, helps to create a positive, peaceful, loving vibration that ripples outwards, to benefit all beings. .

IINGREDIENTS:
1) Nori Sheets
2) Canned Tuna
3) Japanese Cucumber, sliced
4) Japanese Sushi Rice, cooked
5) Mayonnaise
6) Bonito Flakes (Optional)
STEPS:
1) Lay out one nori sheet on the bamboo mat.
2) Spread about 1/4 cup of sushi rice on the nori sheet.
3) Then add tuna, mayo, cucumbers and bonito flakes on the rice.
4) Roll the sushi with the bamboo mat.
5) Cut the roll into 8 equal parts. Enjoy!
